In the recently launched web series, Mirzapur by Amazon Prime, Rasika graced the screen with her presence in the role of Beena Tripathi, wife of gangster Kaleen Bhaiya (Pankaj Tripathi). In one of the recent interviews, Rasika said,”Beena is an instinctively mysterious person. It was very refreshing for me to play this part as I usually get a role in which I am a good wife or a loving mother.
There are absolutely no roles written for women in which there is an acknowledgement of their sexuality”. The actress added in another interview, “Women often get ignored from the main narrative, especially in films. In Mirzapur, the tracks of all the women are interesting”.

When asked about the scope of the web series, Rasika says, “ It has opened up a whole new chapter in our lives and I am so grateful for it. The format of a web show or series concept is very interesting from a writing point of view. It has given a lot of writers opportunities to explore characters and plots.
The web welcomes content which is path-breaking and pushes boundaries. The kind of scripts I have read for web shows has been outstanding. I have had the opportunity to act in two- Mirzapur, which is a kind of role I have not done before and I am excited about that. It is totally different from Manto. So, from Manto to Mirzapur is one full transformation”.

Rasika met several IPS officers as a part of the preparation and also spent time understanding the process underway at the police station, the way they train for a parade or simply hang out. The actor also took time to understand different official ranking systems and those that are specific to Delhi Police. “There are so many details about the uniform itself and the different ways in which they salute each other”, says Dugal. The series will be shot from January to April this year and is directed by Canadian director Richie Mehta. The show would also feature Shefali Shah, Adil Hussain and Rajesh Tailang.
