On Wednesday, October 31, R. Madhavan revealed the teaser of his upcoming movie: Rocketry The Nambi Effect.
The teaser went viral within minutes and already has big praises coming it’s way from the likes of Amitabh Bachchan and Aamir Khan. It also has created quite a buzz all over social media and Madhavan fans are eagerly waiting for the movie to be out.

This is Madhavan’s directorial debut movie after his last appearance in Pushkar-Gayathri’s cop-drama Vikram Vedha. The actor is widely appreciated and known all over the country for his remarkable performances in movies like- ‘Rehna Hai Tere Dil Main’, ‘3 Idiots’, ‘Tanu Weds Manu’ as well as Tamil hits like ‘Minnale’ and ‘ Alai Payuthey’ and many more.
The teaser of the Madhavan starrer starts out the voice of Prime Minister Narendra Modi announcing the successful launch of Mars Orbiter Mission (MOM) by the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO). The video goes over a length of one minute and in the first few seconds we can see the number of failed attempts by Russia and America to reach Mars orbit, a feat that India achieved in her first attempt itself that too by spending lesser amounts of money.
A few seconds later we can hear Madhavan’s voice looming in with,”What if I say we could have achieved this twenty years ago? My name is Nambi Narayanan. I spent 35 years in rocketry and 50 days in prison. My nation paid the price of those 50 days and this story is about that. It’s not about me.”(source indianexpress)
Who is Nambi Narayanan?
S Nambi Narayanan was an ISRO scientist charged with espionage in the year 1994. Although all charges against him were dismissed by the CBI in 1996 and then he was finally declared not guilty in the year 1998 by the Supreme Court. Narayanan was head of the cryogenics division in ISRO.
In an interview to a media source , R Madhavan says ,”I heard about the ISRO spy case and how Nambi Narayanan , who was charged with espionage, fought to prove his innocence. When I met this gentleman, I learned the whole story behind his life. Unfortunately, it was the spy case that brought him to limelight whereas he should have been known for a much better reason.”(source indiatoday.in)

Madhavan’s role in the movie :
The movie is co- directed by Madhavan alongside the National Award-winning filmmaker Ananth Mahadevan and is to be released in the summer of 2019 in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Hindi and English.
“His character starts as 27-year old Nambi Narayanan in Princeton and goes on till he is 70.
So we are shooting the film in three stages: first in his early thirties to mid-forties, next from mid-forties to late fifties- that’s when the spy case actually happens and finally in his seventies, where he recalls everything.
He has to undergo the transformations for each phase. He is going to do all by himself,” reveals the director. (source indiatoday.in)
Before the release of the teaser, Madhavan had posted videos of his work on the project and spoke about his views of the story,”There are many personal stories in the world that you would have heard about and many many more you have no clue about.
But there are a few stories, knowing nothing about which means that you know very little about your own nation. Nambi Narayanan’s story is one such story because when you hear this man’s story and you see his achievements then I promise you, you will never be able to stay silent.
